Otter Creek Labs

Otter Creek Labs was started by us, co-owners Andrew and John in 2020 officially, although the design and planning process started before that.  Back then, we utilized John’s garage for manufacturing and Andrew’s for welding and shipping.

The company was named in honor of Andrew’s grandfather, who passed away around the time we started the company – he went to the Otter Creek school located in Otter Creek, Kentucky and was frequently seen wearing a hat with the words “Otter Creek” on it.

Initially, we were introduced by a mutual friend. We enjoyed making our own suppressors for personal use with the ATF Form 1 system, and made a business out of it via Quell Tech using jigs and tools. We both love shooting and whenever we went to a match or the range, people always asked us what suppressors we were using because they sounded awesome. We always replied, “ones that we made ourselves”.

So, while both working regular 9-5 jobs, we decided to get our FFL/SOT and make suppressors on the weekend or whenever we had time off from work as a side business to sell to friends, family or locals – and maybe a few online too. John took out a loan and Andrew maxed out his credit card to get the business going. John was working at Neff Robotics as a mechanical engineer at the time, and Andrew was working at Toyota, building and wiring engines. We’ve worked real jobs our entire lives and were never handed anything. We’re just regular guys who love our families, the 2nd Amendment, suppressors, and love building things with our hands who happened to find success with something that started from a side business. 

We know you work hard for your money, and know what it’s like to roll into pay day by the seat of your pants. We know what it’s like to save up for something for months, and then all of a sudden you have car troubles and have to spend the money you saved to get it fixed so you can get to work, and now you’re back at square one. That is why we’re so committed to getting you the best suppressor we possibly can for the best price we possibly can, and why we’ll always take care of you no matter what. We understand you because we’re just like you.

Slowly, Otter Creek Labs has started building steam and turning into something we never imagined it would – a full-time business. These days, we’ve been able to quit our real jobs and jump into Otter Creek Labs full-time. We went from being in a garage to two buildings and six total employees. To this day, we’re still both heavily involved in the manufacturing process. We get our hands on every single suppressor that’s made, and make almost everything in-house.

There’s a million things we could say here, but we think we can sum it all up with a Thank You. We wouldn’t be where we are today without our customer base. Everything we do is grass roots; no paying for YouTube videos or for advertising or bullshit, made-up words and fancy marketing language. We like making good products at a good price, and treating people like people instead of dollar signs. We don’t care if we sell 50 suppressors or 5,000, because we’re just happy to be here.
